(1) If someone wants to file a complaint regarding domestic violence, he should file a complaint before the body that hears complaints in the format as per schedule-1.
(2) When someone has given an oral complaint regarding domestic violence, the body that hears the complaint shall put such oral complaint in writing in the format as per schedule-1 and get it stamped by the complainant.
(3) If a complaint is received in accordance with sub-rule (1) or (2), the body hearing the complaint shall register such complaint in the registration book as per rule 4 and pay compensation to the complainant in accordance with schedule-2.
(4) If someone complains about domestic violence to the court and other complaint-hearing bodies, action will be taken only on the complaint filed in the court.
(5) If someone files a complaint with more than one agency other than the court regarding domestic violence, action will be taken only on the complaint of one of the agencies chosen by the victim.
(6) If there is a complaint from both the victim and another person regarding domestic violence, action will be taken only on the complaint filed by the victim.
(7) According to sub-rules (4), (5) or (6), if action is to be taken only on a single complaint, the body hearing such complaint shall give the information of that matter to the body hearing the complaint.
(8) If information is received in accordance with sub-rule (7), the body that hears such a complaint shall mention it in the complaint registration book and deduct the cost of the complaint.
